The URJ for Reform Judaism is firmly committed to maintaining the privacy of visitors to its website and to the privacy of the members of URJ congregations. The URJ reserves the right to modify its privacy policy from time to time.
Information Collection and Use
The URJ believes that personally identifying information, such as your name, postal and e-mail address or telephone number, is private and confidential. You can have general access to our site without providing any personally identifying information. The URJ collects personally identifying information only when you voluntarily submit it, such as when you e-mail comments, request information, place an order, sign up for a discussion group or e-newsletter, or register for a program.
Release of Information to Third Parties
The URJ does not release your personally identifying information to third parties unless you have given us permission to do so or unless such release is required to comply with the law or to protect the rights or safety of the URJ or our website users. Information that is collected will not be sold, shared, or rented to any outside company or organization. Information that is collected will be used solely for the purpose for which it is given or to inform you of URJ events and resources. Online Order Forms
Our sites use order forms for customers to request information and services. We collect visitors’ contact information (i.e., their name, phone number, e-mail addresses, congregation, position held in congregation), unique identifiers (account numbers, passwords), and financial information (account or credit card numbers). Contact information from the order forms is used to send orders and information about our organization to our customers/visitors who request it. The customer’s contact information is also used to get in touch with the visitor when necessary. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings (see the choice/opt-out section below). Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services they purchase online. Unique identifiers (such as account numbers or passwords) are collected from website visitors for use as account numbers in our record system.
Information that is collected on online order forms becomes the property of the URJ. The URJ does not sell, market or distribute this information and will not use it for purposes other than indicated in this privacy policy.
Registration
On certain parts of our site (mainly registration forms and catalogue orders), users are required to give contact information (such as their names and e-mail addresses) and unique identifiers (such as passwords, account numbers or congregational information). This information is used to send users the information they request and/or to fulfill orders that are created online. The contact information may also be used to contact the visitor when necessary. Unique identifiers (such as account numbers and passwords) are collected for use as account numbers in our record system. Congregational or account information submitted by users may be used to verify and protect users identity when they are conducting online transactions through our web site. The URJ may use contact information to distribute news it deems of general interest to its web site visitors. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings (see the choice/opt-out section).
Public Forums
The URJ sponsors numerous Listserv discussion groups for members of URJ congregations. These discussion groups are a free service to enable members to share comments about a wide variety of comments. Only individuals older than 13 years of age may participate and by participating you are certifying that you are old enough to participate.
The URJ may make the postings to ListServ discussion groups available to its users. We ask that participants refrain from including profanity, obscenities, hateful, and/or defamatory language. The URJ does not review items before they are posted and reserves the right to remove any information posted.
Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANYONE FROM THE LIST WHO VIOLATES THESE PROCEDURES.
Security
The site(s) covered by this policy has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
Choice/Opt-Out
The URJ gives users the following options for removing their information from our database to not receive future communications or to no longer receive our service.
