Learn to Read Hebrew

Learn to read Hebrew with a warm and supportive educator to guide you.


Hebrew 1 - Fall 2016
Learn to recognize the shapes and sounds of the Hebrew alphabet. With a commitment to class attendance and approximately ten minutes of review at home each day, you can expect to be comfortable sounding out some of the key recurring words and phrases in the Hebrew blessings for Shabbat and holidays.

This course assumes no prior Hebrew experience.


Hebrew 2 - Spring 2017

We’ll quickly review the alef bet and move to sounding out key words and learning their meanings and significance in Jewish life.  With a commitment to class attendance and approximately ten minutes of review at home each day, you can expect to feel comfortable reading an expanded selection of blessings for Shabbat and holiday celebrations.

This course assumes mastery of the Hebrew alef-bet.

Advance registration required. Six sessions. Minimum enrollment required.
Fees: $90/per person, $75 for Introduction to Judaism alumni and Temple Israel members. Generous scholarships available.
